More than a decade before the first drawing
Vigilant began not as an architecture firm but as an owner's project management practice. For more than a decade, before we designed a single building, we represented owners. We managed projects, monitored costs, coordinated consultants, and made sure clients understood what was happening and that their interests were protected through every phase.
That experience taught us exactly where project budgets erode, where coordination gaps form between separate firms, and what changes when one team owns the full picture. We learned what owners need most from the firms they hire.
We didn't start an architecture firm because we loved drawing buildings. We started one because more than a decade of owner's representation showed us precisely what an integrated firm should look like.

Our team includes professionals who came from the construction side. People who have managed subcontractors, run sites, and lived with the consequences of design decisions in the field. They sit in design meetings. They review specifications. They know what a detail will cost before it's drawn, and they say so.

We built our cost estimating and monitoring practice before we built our design practice. Cost monitoring at Vigilant is a design function. It is part of every design conversation from the first sketch. By the time construction documents are issued, the budget has been managed for months.
