There are moments in a construction project where an owner needs advice from someone who isn't selling them something. A cost review before committing to a contractor. A second opinion on a consultant's recommendation. An independent assessment of a procurement strategy, a change order, or a project that has started to move in the wrong direction. In those moments, the value of the advice depends entirely on whether the person giving it has any interest in the answer. Vigilant is not the architect, contractor, or consultant on the project being reviewed. Our only mandate is accuracy.
Vigilant provides independent advisory services to owners who need a straight answer on a specific question. That might be a desktop cost review before a budget decision, an assessment of a tender result that came back higher than expected, a procurement strategy for a project going to market, or a review of a change order that doesn't look right. We come in, we look at what's in front of us, and we tell you what we see.
Our advisory work draws on the full depth of the firm (architecture, civil engineering, cost estimating, and project management) depending on what the question requires. An owner doesn't need to know in advance which discipline their problem belongs to. They bring us the situation and we apply the right expertise to it.
Because we are not the architect, the contractor, or the consultant on the project we're reviewing, we have no interest in the answer other than getting it right. That independence is the point.
WHAT WE DO
More than a decade of owner's representation taught us what owners need when a project gets complicated. Someone who has seen it before, knows what the numbers should look like, and whose only mandate is an accurate answer. Advisory services at Vigilant are an extension of the same instinct that built the firm: the instinct to protect the owner's interests, regardless of what that answer requires.
